Crime Story Jumped the Shark Bigtime
Just finished watching 44 episodes of the Michael Mann series Crime Story from 1986. 36 hours and 36 minutes of Dennis Farina and Anthony Dennison.
And I think that they were preparing for a 3rd season.
I wonder whether the writers of the last 5 episodes are the fathers of the writers of Prison Break - the absurdity quotient skyrocketed to Prison Breakesque levels. Don't get me wrong, I loved Prison Break, but come on, it was a totally absurd show.
For example, Ray Luca (Anthony Dennison) was responsible for the Tonkin Gulf Incident that started the Vietnam War in earnest. No wonder it has become a cult series!
Note: The last five episodes (on my legal copy of the 25 Anniversary set - bought & paid for) are out of order. The last episode on Disk 8 "The Hearings" should be the first episode on Disk 9. The first episode on disk 9 "Byline" should be the last episode on Disk 8. See imbd.com for the correct listing. Was a little strange watching an episode- at first I thought it was a flashback episode.
Enjoy Country Joe and the Fish- uploaded in next post.

Rewriting History
Just saw The Name of the Rose again. What a great movie!!! Need to write to get my critical faculties back on track. The medieval world was so grotty. I do not understand why anyone would want to go back and REALLY live in the medieval world. Fantasy notwithstanding.
Been doing some reading on the medieval world as well - why would people want to go back in time and rewrite history. Even if I suppose they are just creating fantasy worlds, why not create something new rather than make something in the past better than it was. Of course, if they recreated those worlds as they were and wanted to live in them then it would make sense to me.
But then somebody said the other day that the greatest thing about the WiiFit is that you can screw up bigtime (like not extending your knees on the ski jump; arghhhhhhhhh the tightrope) and still not get a bruise.
But enough digression. What really bothers me is how many women and men want to rewrite the past in order to push forth their agendas. Take women for one (the Bedazzled Crone, am I). So powerful women existed in the past. Well, yes, there were some - all sorts of them in the European world - but would you have wanted to know any of them???
